Our team: key personnel

Andy Aelbers

With nearly 40 years of experience under his belt, Andy Aelbers is a leading force in the BC marine scene.  A rigger by trade, Andy started work at a number of local shipyards before joining Key Marine Industries.  He was invited to Germany to become a certified Liebherr Crane technician.  At Key's testing facilities, Andy worked with Transport Canada to establish practical standards for many aspects of the industry, including timber deck lashing test procedures.   It was there that he established himself as a top-notch repair superintendent, building a strong and loyal customer base.  At his clients' urging, he established A-1 Marine Services in 2004, and he has not looked back ever since.  He has grown the business to its current position at the top of the market, always finding new ways to serve his customers. Andy has never lost the personal touch and attention to detail that has been his hallmark throughout his entire career.  A tireless worker, his love of fishing and travel is well-known.
